Archive light 4180, AKA the Viking lamp, designed by Arnulf Bjørshol in 1951 for the Hotel Viking in Oslo. The hotel was built for the 1952 Winter Olympics and was, at-the-time, the largest in the Nordics.
The entire production of the archive lights takes place at the Hadeland Glassverk, with the wooden moulds made by hand.
The lights are mouth blown with the same techniques used for over 250 years. The cooling down process can take from 4 hours to several days and finally the lights get a rough grind, fine grind and lastly they are polished.
