Designer – Kengo Kuma
Description
Furin is the Japanese word for wind bell.
As a matter of fact, it is a suspension lighting system composed by various tubular moving elements.
The aluminium tubes, in which a LED source is placed,, are completely covered by a coloured tissue. The tubes are disposed linearly along an electrical binary system or connected in groups of nine to a ceiling rose. The system involves the use of tubes with different lengths to create chandeliers, or to obtain a ground-line lighting effect: a wall of light.
Kengo Kuma’s architecture often reflects the concept of a filter to organize space. To achieve a soft screen that limits and defines spaces, Kuma designed a flexible light curtain that can be adapted to different environments and gently enlightens the floor or table.
